Wedding Wednesday: Glamelia Bouquets

by Benjamin Keys

Our Wed on Canvas Bride, Ashley, had the most beautiful Glamelia bouquet which inspired this post!  I've pulled together a short gallery of photos to inspired from Ashley's bridal bouquet!  You might be thinking ... "what exactly IS a Glamelia bouquet?"  A Glamelia is basically a handmade single flower that is created using many petals.  From a little research, I learned that the Glamelia became a trend during the 1940s when Camelia's were very expensive blooms as a result of the war.  Florists would take petals from Gladiolus flowers and use them to build up a single Camelia flower.  (So that's where we get the oh so glamorous name :Gla-melia!)  Today, whether as a bridal bouquet, bridesmaids' bouquets, or even as a decor accent, the Glamelia look is simply gorgeous ... and sure to make a statement!
